However, many Americans barely noticed a difference, Those already poor had little to lose, while some people remained wealthy, having not relied heavily on stocks. Meanwhile, many people had jobs producing basic goods and services that were still in demand.

CNN 10 is kicking off a new year of explaining world events! Our first story this Monday centers on the back-and-forth threats and military strikes between the U.S. and Iran. We're updating you on the raging wildfires in Australia. And we're explaining the significance of a new discovery concerning China's Terracotta Warriors.


As several Middle Eastern nations hope tensions between Iran and the U.S. subside, thousands of additional American troops are deploying to the region. Scientists say they've discovered the deepest point on land, but it's not on a continent most people will visit. And the shopping cart of the future could have its own checkout process, but it could also eliminate jobs.
